Description

Gregarius 0.5.5

The "Doubleclick to Read" plugin does not work under Opera. Double clicking on items (whitespace) does *nothing* (even the error log of Opera is empty).

This problem seems to happen only with the Lilina (0.5) theme.

Not entirely true

Under the default theme, it works as long as you move the mouse after each double click, if you double click, and don't move the mouse again, and double click, that event never happens.

Replying to reporter:

This looks more of an Opera DOM event handling issue. I'll try to reproduce this as soon as I can get my hands on an Opera browser, though.

Note: WFM on Gregarius 0.5.5.1653, Opera 9.10 (Mac OS X 10.4.8)

Even if I don't move the mouse between double-clicks, every item is successfully marked as read, both on Lilina and the Default theme. This sounds like a Linux (WindowManager?) issue, to me.

Reporter: any chance you could try with an alternate window manager (e.g. Gnome <-> KDE) and/or debug your XWin session to make sure the doublick event is actually fired and passed through to the browser?

Also: does it work on Firefox?

Marking as WFM for now: feel free to reopen if need be.

My standard WM is XFCE-4 (4.2.3.2), I also tried the following WM's

  • Kde 3.5.2
  • Gnome 2.16.1
  • LWM 1.2.1
  • EvilWM 0.99.25

All exibit the same behaviour.

Yes, works fine in firefox 2.0.

I'll read up on debugging the XWin session to see if the double click event actually fires, but given I can double click on other sites with a similar setup, I beleive it's working fine.

I'll re-open, but I'm suspecting it's an opera bug, as it used to work fine in opera 9.0 or so.

I just upgraded to Opera 9.10 (Build 3588) and can now reproduce this. Indeed it worked fine in 9.02, so this is definitely an Opera bug. I filed a Bugreport at Opera.com.

Works fine in Opera 9.23 build 600.
